The Certified Shredding Services part of Schaap Records Management offers perhaps the most important service of any of the Schaap Family of Companies. We shred confidential documents that contain important information that is no longer required, insuring that the information can no longer be used.

To accomplish this, Certified Shredding has a shredder at the Albany facility capable of destroying thousands of pounds of paper per hour, as well as a mobile shredder that can be dispatched to shred paper on site.

Once paper is shredded, a certificate of destruction is issued indicating when the paper was destroyed and the individual responsible for the shredding. Then, the paper is baled and shipped to mills to be turned into paper again.

Certified Shredding Services can provide 65- or 95-gallon secure collection containers for paper to be shredded and can pick them up on a scheduled or as-needed basis. For clients who may have limited space, smaller containers can also be ordered and will be provided free.

Purging of a large volume of records has become a Certified Shredding Services specialty. We have the equipment and manpower to make sure any volume of records is securely and professionally transported and destroyed.

As a public service, twice every year, in an effort to combat identity theft, and in cooperation with the Town of Colonie Police, Certified Shredding Services offers a free shredding day for the general public. Individuals may bring up to 30  pounds of paper to our facility to be shredded at no charge. The free shredding days are the Saturday on Columbus Day weekend, and the first Saturday after tax day (usually April 15). Please feel free to take advantage of this free service.
